韓国出身の人気アイドル歌手と言えば日本でもおなじみの「BoA」（ボア）がいます。ボアは韓国、日本、アメリカを中心として活動を行っています。
ボアは2000年に韓国デビューを果たして、2001年には日本デビューを果たしたアイドル歌手です。
アメリカでの活動は2009年から開始しました。
ボアはSMエンターテインメントが開催したオーディションに兄が参加した際に付き添いで会場にいき、そこでスカウトされました。
その後2年間歌手デビューするためにダンスや歌のレッスンを行ってきました。
海外進出も見据えて日本語と英語の勉強も行っていたそうです。
2000年8月にデビュー曲を発売して、11月にはミュージックフェスティバルで新人賞を受賞しています。
12月には歌謡大典にて「今年の女性新人賞」に輝きトップアイドルになりました。
ルックスがキュートなのでアイドル的存在でしたが、デビュー当初から歌唱力と表現力はずば抜けて優れていました。
ダンスチューンからバラードまで幅広くこなせる女性歌手です。
多くのアーティストに認められて様々な形で楽曲に参加しています。
日本で発売されたアルバムはすべてオリコンでチャート1位を獲得しています。
14歳で日本デビューを果たしてからあっという間にスターダムにのし上がってきました。
2009年の全米デビューのアルバムタイトルはその名も「BoA」。
アメリカだけではなく、韓国、日本、マレーシア、中国など10ヶ国でリリースされました。
